Making Web3 Games Fun-First with TiltPlay

What if web3 games were actually fun and easy to play? That’s exactly what TiltPlay is building.

We talked with Daniel from TiltPlay during our latest Twitter Space to talk about how they’re making blockchain games fast, seamless, and worth playing for the gameplay itself, not just the rewards. With live games on Telegram and a new mini-app launching soon on LINE, TiltPlay is aiming to make gaming more skill-based and social.

Making Web3 Games Seamless

TiltPlay’s mission is clear: create fast-paced, competitive games that are easy to jump into and reward skill. Instead of relying on token farming or “earn-first” mechanics, their games are designed to be:

  • Accessible through platforms like Telegram and LINE
  • Focused on player mastery, not repetitive tasks
  • Built for fun, strategic gameplay with leaderboard incentives

This approach encourages long-term engagement without player burnout, while still offering meaningful rewards for skillful play.

Rethinking Incentives in Web3 Gaming

Daniel emphasized that TiltPlay rewards players based on strategy and skill, rather than time spent or raw participation. Games like Block Party (a Telegram puzzle game) reward combo-building and leaderboard performance, not grinding or token flipping.

Players who collect full avatar sets via in-game NFT drops unlock advantages that encourage use, not resale, of assets, helping TiltPlay maintain value inside the ecosystem instead of through secondary markets.

Community as Co-Creators

TiltPlay sees their community not just as players, but as co-creators. While they’re still early in building out full community tooling, they’ve already:

  • Implemented player feedback from campaigns like ACS
  • Fixed point-tracking bugs based on Twitter DMs
  • Compensated users for helping refine the experience

Their long-term goal is to enable players to directly influence game mechanics, content, and future development, using governance-inspired tools, without needing users to know they’re participating in governance.

Onchain Benefits That Matter

TiltPlay is leveraging onchain infrastructure to unlock:

  • True ownership: Players can keep, use, or trade their in-game assets
  • Interoperability: Items may be used across games within the Soneium ecosystem
  • Decentralized economy: A transparent and open system for community participation

All of this contributes to a broader vision where gameplay and contribution are intertwined, and reputation becomes a key incentive for early users and repeat players.

Why They’re Building on Soneium

Tilt Play is building within the Soneium ecosystem with a focus on scalability and social integrations. Through platforms like LINE (with access to over 1.2B users) and Telegram, they’re lowering onboarding friction and reaching users outside the typical crypto bubble. They’ve already hosted events like SushiTech Tokyo to connect directly with traditional audiences.

TiltPlay Expansion

TiltPlay is launching a new game as a LINE mini-app in the coming weeks, targeting casual web2 gamers with zero blockchain experience. Their goal is to continue refining their games, experimenting with new incentive models, and eventually expand the ways communities can create, play, and shape the ecosystem together.
