Tevaera's Strategic Migration to Base

Tevaera, a leader within web3 gaming, recently made a strategic decision to migrate from Zksync to the Base network. This move reflects a data-driven approach to find the most aligned ecosystem for their vision.

We talked with Gav, founder of Teva to learn more about his thought process behind the big decision, as well as how he’s continued to build with his community for important decisions.

A community-driven migration

An astounding 99.98% of the Tevaera community voted in favor of moving to Base. This decision emerged from transparent discussions on the Common platform, where community members could discuss and analyze the potential pros and cons.

Unanimous decisions are rare in crypto, but Base offers compelling advantages that resonated deeply with both Gav and the Teva community.

Why Base?

Tevaera's choice of Base wasn't arbitrary. The ecosystem boasts impressive metrics, with nearly 300 million monthly transactions, very low transaction costs, and hosting millions of Ethereum's active users.

Beyond the numbers, the Base team's responsiveness, exemplified by Jesse Pollak's quick and supportive communication, played a crucial role in the decision.

Gaming agents are here

Teva is doing far more than just the Base migration. One of their most exciting innovations is the concept of "gaming agents,” or AI-powered characters that can play on behalf of users. Imagine being able to rent an agent to play a game for a specific time, opening up gaming participation to those who lack time or direct gaming skills. This approach could dramatically expand the potential user base for web3 games.

They’re also creating a smart gaming platform that’s still in the works. Gav is enthusiastic and optimistic about the direction Teva is headed, and his emphasis on listening to the community for governance and beyond is inspiring.
